Weather

Lake Tahoe has perhaps one of the world s most enjoyable climates. Rain, sunshine, snowfall, clouds and cold breezes, all in heavenly combination, give the place an enchanting aura. Feels like heaven, really.
Few places on earth can claim a climate of such great variety and year-round fascination as that which blesses the Sierra . The four sharply-defined seasons bring to the high country a continual cycle of variety and change.
It is said that the crystalline structure of Sierra snow is rare. Unusually reflective and capable of withstanding high winter air temperatures, it is able to retain its feathery perfection for skiing. This reflective quality, plus the clarity of the Sierra air can be very dangerous to unsuspecting skiers and sunbathers since the sun's intensity is nearly four times that of the brightest day at sea level.
The surface temperature of the main body of the lake, in the summer, is about 67 degrees. Out in the shallow beaches, it is warmer, sometimes varying with the air temperature. Here swimming is enjoyed by many.
